Mr. Jones
Mr. Jones is also one of the tracks that was written in a relative short timeframe. Somehow it all fell together pretty quickly. After I had finished the arrangement, Keith just nailed the vocals and lyrics pretty quickly.
In the recording process of 'Here to Stay' I did an important change regarding the order of recording compared to 'Rise'. On 'Here to Stay' I always made sure that the guitar solos were recorded at the very end of the recording process, when all music and vocals were already done. That gives the guitarist the opportunity to do some ad-libbing or 'battling' with the vocals. Mr. Jones is a perfect example of this. At the end of the song Timo Somers is doing a crazy battle with Keith's vocals, and this gives the song a lot of dynamics and extra flavour. The same applies to most other songs, and this adds so much to the song!
Like on 'Jaded Eyes' and on 'Bust me Out' Timo is doing an amazing job on Mr. Jones as well. I guess that many fans will consider Timo as one of the biggest surprises on 'Here to Stay'.
